My Goals for Spring

Today is the first day of spring quarter and I really don’t know what to feel or how to feel about it. To give some context and I apologize to the lovely people who have read a good majority (if not all) my posts as I probably sound like a broken record, but since I’ve been attending this university, I’ve had 2/2 really rough quarters.

In no way do my grades reflect the amount of hard work I’ve put in and that’s just the reality of it. Although both quarters were rough, mentally and emotionally, I did a lot better handling disappointment and frustration than I did my fall quarter and I feel good saying that.

Starting this new quarter, I think it’s important to brainstorm my goals and reflect on my previous quarters.

GOAL #1: CONTINUE WORKING ON NOT LETTING MY GRADES DEFINE ME

This was a major problem my fall quarter, as a handful of you probably remember. I did a much better job my winter quarter. I still struggle with it as we live in a world that values good grades and being at the top of your class, but I can’t let my grades define me. For spring quarter, I think what will help with that is by constantly reminding myself that before and after every assignment, every midterm, every final. I am more than my grades.

GOAL #2: CONTINUE GROWING IN CHRIST – AS A LEADER

It hasn’t really hit me yet that I’m president of my house. I can’t tell you whether it’s a good thing or bad thing, but it’s just, new. For this quarter (and every quarter I’m on the officer team), it’s important that I’m aware of how to be a leader in Christ. The officer team is going to be great and I think we’ll all be able to keep each other in check and I’m sure I will get called out when I mess up, and that’s part of growing. And from there, I’ll figure out which areas I need to work on, or rather which areas I need to work on first. So far, I’ve finished three devotionals on leadership and my goal is to make that a daily habit. This goal in particular I could make it’s own post about, but I’ll keep it short and sweet for you. I am excited to lead this house of amazing women and I am excited to lead in Christ.

GOAL #3: CONTINUE TO WORK ON PUTTING MY TRUST IN HIM

This goes hand-in-hand with my first goal. It’s important to remind myself daily that He has a plan and a purpose for my life and there is absolutely nothing I can do to “throw-off” God. He sees and knows my whole life. His goodness and His mercy will follow me. It’s something to know and to remember as I struggle and as I succeed.

Although I said these are my goals for spring quarter, I really think these are going to always be under my radar for (at the very least) the rest of my time in school, and even the rest of my life. In no way do I expect to master these goals within the 11ish weeks (or even within my whole life) and that’s okay.

That being said, these are my thoughts and goals as I sit and wait for my first class and my first day to begin. My God already knows how this quarter is going to go for me. He already sees my transcript. He has a plan for me and I’m just here to follow it. I am excited to continue growing as a Christian.

I know this definitely isn’t the most thought-provoking post, nor the most exciting post, but it’s just a reminder for me when things get tough and even when things go well. Thank you for reading.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, 17 comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

Thessalonians 2:16-17
